Our mission is to provide leadership in the promotion and protection of our county's soil, water, and other natural resources through education and technical assistance.
Michigan’s Conservation Districts are special-purpose local units of state government that utilize state, federal and private sector resources to solve today’s conservation issues. Conservation Districts provide linkages between land managers and a host of conservation service providers.
Agricultural Assistance: A MAEAP Technician is available to evaluate your farming operation and guide you through sustainable management decisions that balance environment, economic and society's needs.
Forestry Assistance: An Outreach Forester is available to visit your land and help you achieve your forest goals with best management practices in mind.
Education Services: We host a variety of workshops for the community and our Education Coordinator visits schools and libraries with fun lessons in conservation for all ages.
Invasive Species: MCD is a founding partner of the North Country Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area (NCCISMA) and helps identify project areas and educate the public about the threats to our natural resources. (northcountryinvasives.org)
NRCS/USDA : We work closely with the Cadillac Field Office of Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) office to help landowners find all the resources available to them. (nrcs.usda.gov)
We are funded through our annual plant, plat book and tree sales; State Operations grant; and a millage passed in 2014 and renewed in 2018.
