Women in the Wilderness- Part 2
Learn flyfishing skills and plant ID! Note: Part 1 is NOT REQUIRED for this workshop.
Service Description
Please join us for our second Women in the Wilderness event on Saturday, September 6th from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m for a full day of flyfishing and plant identification training. We are joined by three awesome partners for this full-day workshop. Flygirls of Michigan, Inc will be teaching the basics of flyfishing, with hands-on practice (casting practice must be done on land unless the participant has a current fishing license through the Michigan DNR). Trout Unlimited will teach participants how to identify macroinvertebrates to determine water quality and help participants create their own fishing lures. The North Country Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area (NCCISMA) will lead participants on a hike and teach them to identify invasive species as well as native plants that are beneficial for our area. Please note that this workshop is recommended for ages 13 and above. Cost is $35 per person. Price includes all materials. Registration is required as space is limited. To register, visit https://www.missaukeecd.org/workshops or call us at 231-839-7193. This event is made possible by the Missaukee Conservation District millage renewed in 2024. *Current location is tentative; more details about location will be shared closer to the event*
